Keep that next opening clear. Dates can be queued by inviting multiple residents, but the game does not show a dependable diary for the order. One invitation at a time makes it much easier to tell whether the required scene and status change worked.

Dating several characters is allowed; engagement is the commitment point. Other partners return to four hearts and become Hurt after the proposal, and you cannot start new dates. Noel moves into the farm home after marriage while retaining a normal town routine, and two spouse hearts open.
