New Moonlight Peaks Trailer and Bigger Demo Land at Wholesome Direct 2026

With launch now under two weeks away, Moonlight Peaks used the Wholesome Direct 2026 showcase to roll out a brand-new trailer and a meaningfully bigger free demo. If you’ve only seen the early build, this is the best look yet at what the cozy vampire life-sim will actually feel like on July 7.

A fresh trailer with new gameplay

The Wholesome Direct cut from developer Little Chicken Game Company leans into the game’s eerily-cozy identity — moonlit farming, a candlelit gothic manor, and townsfolk milling around after dark. The clip gives updated looks at the core loop players will live in: tending an enchanted farm, decorating your homestead, and getting to know the residents you’ll eventually befriend or date.

It’s a tone-setter more than a feature dump, but the message is clear: the night-time, Stardew-with-fangs hook is fully intact, and the art has only gotten more polished since the first reveal.

What’s new in the expanded demo

The bigger story is the updated demo, now available free on PC via Steam and on Nintendo Switch (and playable on Switch 2). Compared with earlier builds, it opens up several systems we’d only heard about:

  • Character creation — make your own vampire before you ever set foot in town. We break down the options in our character creator guide.
  • More town interactions — additional conversations and moments with the residents around Moonlight Peaks.
  • New crafting — gather materials and craft to start personalizing your future homestead.
  • A spread of magical mini-games, including:

That’s a notable shift in flavour: alongside farming and enchanted crops and witchcraft and spells, the demo now sells the quiet side of vampire life — the hobbies you do to unwind, not just to profit.

⚠️ Based on the demo build: this is a slice of the game, not the finished release. Treat specifics as “what the demo shows,” and expect the full town, roster and systems to be larger at launch. Our demo vs. full game page tracks the differences.

A hands-on preview, too

The trailer wasn’t the only new look this month. PC Gamer published a 6-hour hands-on preview of a near-final build, describing Moonlight Peaks as a competent “vampire farm sim” whose appeal comes down to taste in art style and tone — and noting there’s no combat in the areas seen, including the mines. It’s the most substantial press impression so far, and a good sign the released game holds together beyond a short demo.

Launch details worth knowing

A few specifics firmed up around the showcase:

  • Release date: July 7, 2026 — see our release date and platforms page.
  • Platforms: PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Android via Google Play Games.
  • Price: $34.99, with a 15% launch discount in the week after release.
  • Physical edition (Europe): a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition arrives August 28, 2026 (€49.99 / £44.99), bundling a collectible sticker sheet and a digital soundtrack.

How to try it before launch

The demo is free, so the easiest way to decide if Moonlight Peaks is for you is to play it. Start with our demo guide for what’s included and what carries over, the Switch demo walkthrough if you’re on console, or browse everything we know for the full picture ahead of July 7.
