The reliable starting fact is narrow: Marvelous’ 1.1.45 patch increased the chance of Weeping Willows respawning in the Howling Marshes to improve late-game access to Dark Wood, and said further improvements were planned for 1.2. It did not publish an exact spawn timer, a fixed daily yield, or a guarantee that every player will see a refill immediately.

This guide separates that official statement from useful but unverified community observations. It is better to have a small, honest route than a confidently wrong spreadsheet.

Start in the Howling Marshes

The Howling Marshes are the location named in the official patch note. If you need Dark Wood, make this region part of a normal resource loop rather than assuming the materials will appear on your farm or in any forest. Use the map and fast-travel guide to plan the route efficiently, then check the available Weeping Willows as you pass through.

The key word in the patch note is chance. A chance increase improves the long-term supply; it is not a reset button. If you clear the area and still need material, continue playing normally, advance in-game days, and come back on a later route. Do not convert a quiet visit into proof that the patch did nothing without first checking your platform and installed version.

What the patch actually changed

Marvelous’ July 21 notes say:

• The chance of Weeping Willows respawning in Howling Marshes was increased.
• The stated goal was better late-game access to Dark Wood.
• Additional improvements were planned for 1.2.

That gives us a responsible diagnosis path. First update. Second, look in the named region. Third, allow time to pass in-game. Finally, if the resource remains absent in a current build, report it with enough context for support to reproduce: platform, game version, how many in-game days have passed, and whether you are seeing no Weeping Willows at all or simply not enough for a planned upgrade.

Avoid claims such as “willows respawn every X days” unless the publisher or official wiki adds a tested value. The community has reported different experiences, which is exactly why a universal timer would be misleading.

Community leads, clearly labelled

Players have reported two tactics that may be useful to test in your own save:

• Large fallen logs may also yield Dark Wood.
• Shake a Weeping Willow before cutting it; some players say this can provide seeds, which they then plant and maintain on the farm.

These are community observations, not guarantees from Marvelous. Seed drops, growth, and harvesting behaviour can vary by build, and a tactic that helped one player may depend on a condition the post does not document. Do not spend an entire upgrade budget on the assumption that a farm willow plantation is an officially supported infinite supply.

Plan upgrades around supply, not panic

Dark Wood becomes most frustrating when a player begins a large construction plan with a nearly empty stockpile. Instead, check a recipe or upgrade requirement before spending the material on optional decoration. Keep a small reserve for the next story, building, or tool gate; then use surplus for furniture or experiments.

Combine a marsh visit with another purpose—fishing, a quest route, a social visit, or collection progress—so that a low-yield night does not feel wasted. This is less exciting than repeatedly loading the same map area, but it matches what the patch actually promises: a better long-term respawn chance, not an instant material vendor.

When a shortage may be a bug

If you have updated, visited the Howling Marshes across normal in-game time, and never see the relevant trees return, collect a precise report rather than editing your save. Include the platform, version number, latest patch installed, rough number of in-game days, and a screenshot of the region if support asks for one. The official July notes show that the team has already adjusted this resource bottleneck; a clear reproduction report is the best way to distinguish a remaining defect from ordinary randomness.

Until 1.2 arrives with any additional details, this is the dependable takeaway: look to the Howling Marshes, use the current patch, treat community seed and log advice as a testable lead, and do not promise yourself a respawn schedule that the publisher has not supplied. That distinction protects both your materials and your expectations.
